Tim Vickery gives verdict on Giovani Lo Celso to Tottenham transfer move

Pundit Tim Vickery has given his take on the possibility of Tottenham Hotspur securing a deal to sign Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis this summer.

Heading into the final of the Champions League last season, Spurs were reported by BBC to have made a sizeable offer of £53m to sign the midfielder.

There was no further confirmation over how Real Betis responded to the bid from Tottenham but the La Liga club has not ruled out the likelihood of their star midfielder leaving this summer.

The fact that Christian Eriksen is yet to pledge his future to Mauricio Pochettino’s side means the Spurs manager will have to make a quick decision over whether to pursue a replacement for the Denmark star or not.

Lo Celso was on duty with Argentina at the 2019 Copa America tournament and he has certainly displayed the amount of quality he possesses as a creative player.

With two signings already in the bag, Spurs might make another move in the transfer market and Tim Vickey has expressed his approval over the possibility of a deal to sign the ‘talented’ Lo Celso.

“He’s a very, very talented left-footed playmaker, you can certainly see the reason behind the Tottenham connection, with Christian Eriksen perhaps looking to move on,” he said, as per the Express

“Lo Celso would bring some of the things that Christian Eriksen brings, with perhaps a little bit more dynamism, maybe not as deadly as the Dane from set-pieces, but more dynamism over the field.

“He had a terrific season for Real Betis.”
