Sporting Lisbon star, Bruno Fernandes, has made no secret about the fact that he is in awe of the team which Liverpool have put together over the past year.
The 24-year-old would be an attractive prospect for most of the top clubs in Europe in this summer’s transfer window and his comments about the Reds might just fuel the speculation.
Liverpool restored their status as one of the top dogs of European football last season as they secured their sixth Champions League title in history by beating Premier League rivals Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid.
That accomplishment came after an outstanding season in the league which saw them rack up 97 points and finish only a point behind champions Manchester City.
In reaction to the campaign which just ended, Bruno Fernandes wrote a post on ‘De Cadeirinha’ (via Record) about the big teams in England and he revealed his admiration for Manchester City and Liverpool.
Most notably though, the midfielder also added that it was Liverpool whom he liked ‘a lot more’ because of the style of their play.
“Guardiola has made the best of the players in the team, he knew that it was going to be difficult in England and he adapted, City plays, more or less, in the way of Barcelona, ??but not just because the championship is different, the intensity is different, the aggressiveness is different, the competition is different and he knew how to change it” he said, via the Record
“I like Liverpool a lot more, it’s a more direct (style of play), more offensive, maybe less organized, but more intense football, when you do not have the ball possession, you are more intense.
“In Liverpool they are more individual players, especially in the midfield, usually playing three very aggressive players and recovering the ball, then they have three players at the front who are lethal”
