‘Can see him leaving’: Mills says he ‘fears’ Spurs star could leave after Pochettino’s swoop

Former footballer and current BBC pundit Danny Mills has shared his concern over the future of Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier, following Mauricio Pochettino’s most recent transfer deal this summer.

The Spurs boss recognized the need for a new midfielder towards the end of last season, even though his side did well to reach the final of the UEFA Champions League where they were defeated by Liverpool in Madrid.

Pochettino has so far managed to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, meaning that one of the central midfielders in his squad is now facing an uncertain future.

According pundit Danny Mills, Eric Dier is the man who is unlikely to be kept at the club by the Spurs boss, especially after the underwhelming season he just had.

“Tottenham haven’t spent an incredible amount of money on Ndombele to put him on the bench,” Mills told Football Insider. “When he’s fit, he plays, simple as that..

“Moussa Sissoko will probably be the first choice to partner him in central midfield, with Harry Winks the other main option. He’s had a lot of injuries so can’t be expected to always be available.

“It could be curtains for Eric Dier. You fear for him, you really do. He didn’t have a good season last year, and I can see him leaving if Tottenham need to recoup some money.”
