Lille star Nicolas Pepe has been a target for various clubs and Liverpool seem to be acting quicker than others in their chase of the forward.
The 24-year-old was at the peak of his powers in France last sesson, as his performances helped Lille finish the season in second place, behind PSG in the Ligue 1 table.
With Shaqiri not proving to be much of a goalscorer for the Reds last term after his move from Stoke City, Jurgen Klopp might find it necessary to chase the signing of an attacker again this summer.
Pepe has emerged as a notable target for Liverpool in the transfer market and Mohamed Bouhafsi has added his knowledge on what has been going on behind the scenes.
According to the RMC journalist – in an interview with Get French Football News – the Reds have stepped up their interest in signing £72m-rated Pepe by holding “concrete discussions” with Lille about the player.
“This is an €80m situation. So it is a situation that needs time and calm. What I can say is that there are very concrete discussions with Liverpool. Discussions that are not even denied by Lille, at Lille they don’t deny the very concrete interest and discussions from and with Liverpool.” Bouhfasi said
