Manchester City took a major step towards qualification for a place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League this year after somehow defeating Schalke 3-2 away on Wednesday.
Pep Guardiola and his men will know they got away with this one after trailing 2-1 at some point in the game even though Sergio Aguero had scored early on to hand the visitors a lead.
The match proved to be a poor one for Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi, who ended up getting sent off as City went down to ten men.
The South American defender has a hot-and-cold relationship with fans of Pep Guardiola’s side and Wednesday was one of those moments where some wished he was not in the team at all.
Manchester City got there in the end and the 3-2 result has effectively placed the club within touching distance of a quarter-final place but some supporters did air their views about the display from Otamendi.

It’s always a frustration to see a defender as poor as Otamendi being carried shoulder high to a drawer full of medals by an otherwise brilliant squad #SchalkeCity

Get Otamendi out of my club now
