Celtic near deadline to sign loan star on permanent deal

Celtic are aiming to sign Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain.

The loan star has been in stunning form for Brendan Rodgers’ men and it looks likely a deal will be struck to allow the Frenchman to stay in Glasgow.

But the Hoops will have to splash out on a record transfer fee to sign Edouard, with a reported figure of £10m needed to sign him, according to the Scottish Sun.

Celtic have held talks with the 20-year-old’s agent after he hit 11 goals in 28 games for the club.

Edouard’s career in Glasgow started slowly but really took off after the winter break and his winning goal against Rangers in the 3-2 derby win in March topped off an impressive run of form as he helped Celtic seal the treble.

Yesterday, Edouard dropped a huge hint that he was ready to stay at the club with a post on Instagram that thanked the club for a great season before going on to say it was “the beginning of a long story”.

Rodgers has admitted Celtic need to continue to invest in the summer and freshen up their squad, despite sweeping aside all competition in Scotland again.
